Philosophies:
Aubrey ISD believes the following philosophies should be routine in the classroom and modeled by all professional staff when instructing students or leading professional development.
Classroom Management Philosophy - all behavioral expectations must be intentionally taught, modeled and practiced so they become routine.
Discipline with Dignity - Eye contact, proximity, positive reminder, privacy. Never put the dignity of the person at stake.
Cooperative Learning - Cooperative Learning builds engagement, social structures and holds all students accountable for work through Kagan structures.
Workshop Model - Keep mini lessons mini to increase small group time for responsive instruction to differentiate.
Instructional Alignment - instructional cohesiveness and alignment is integral, vertically across grade levels and horizontally across the district.
Gradual Release Model - Aubrey ISD believes in guided practice. Learners must have the opportunity to see and practice concepts, and receive immediate feedback, before being expected to perform and being held accountable for them.
Grading Philosophy - A grade should represent a fair estimate by the teacher of a student’s scholastic achievement. Be careful that the grade is a fair representation and not a reflection of attitude, behavior, or participation.
